AP Renewables’ $US225 Million Climate Bond Named Renewable Energy Deal of the Year

The Asset named AP Renewables’ $US225 million climate bond as the Renewable Energy Deal of the Year at its Asset Triple A Asia Infrastructure Awards 2017.  The matter also won awards in the following categories:

  • Deals of the Year: Renewable Energy – Most Innovative Deal
  • Renewable Energy Deal of the Year – Philippines
  • Most Innovative Deal – Philippines
  • Project Finance Deal of the Year – Philippines

Gibson Dunn represented AP Renewables as issuer, in what was the first climate bond issued for a single project in an emerging market.  The bond was issued in connection with the refinancing of the Tiwi-Makban geothermal plant.  The Gibson Dunn team was led by Hong Kong partner Patricia Tan Openshaw who was assisted by counsel Cristina Uy-Tioco.  The winners were announced on June 6, 2017.
