SNL Energy named Bill Scherman to its list of the “10 most influential people of 2014.” Bill was selected for his critique of FERC enforcement practices that he claimed are forcing companies to flee competitive energy markets, decreasing liquidity and therefore market efficiency in the process. His opinion pieces in the Wall Street Journal and Energy Law Journal received significant attention from federal lawmakers and officials, including the FERC chairman. According to the publication, “Scherman’s efforts have caused FERC to take a hard look at its enforcement policies, which in recent years have targeted several large banks and major utilities”. The list was published on December 17, 2014.
