January 8, 2018

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Aaron Briggs has joined the firm as of counsel in the San Francisco office, where he will work with the firm’s Securities Regulation and Corporate Governance Group.

Briggs was most recently Executive Counsel at General Electric (GE) in Boston.  At GE from 2012 to 2017, Briggs’ responsibilities included board governance, investor outreach and shareholder activism, SEC reporting, proxy solicitation and annual shareholders meeting prep, and providing advice on executive compensation and proxy and financial disclosure matters.  He led the transformation of GE’s investor communications, including reimagining GE’s 10-K annual report and proxy statement and launching the world’s first integrated summary report.  In 2016, Corporate Secretary magazine named him Governance Professional of the Year.

Briggs is returning to Gibson Dunn where he worked from 2007 to 2012 in the Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. offices.  As an associate at Gibson Dunn, he focused on securities regulation, corporate governance, executive compensation and employee benefits.

Briggs earned his law degree from The University of Chicago Law School in 2007, where he was a Kosmerl Scholar and served on the Chicago Journal of International Law.
