Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that it has named Katie Marquart as the firm’s new Pro Bono Director.
Marquart, who was most recently a litigation associate in the firm’s Los Angeles office, will manage and coordinate Gibson Dunn’s pro bono efforts on a firmwide level. In her new role, Marquart will help lead the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, assist in pro bono training and staffing, serve as an internal resource for attorneys seeking guidance on existing pro bono matters and act as a liaison with public interest organizations in the community.

We believe that by giving back to the communities we are a part of, we not only become better citizens of those communities but better lawyers as well.”
In 2010, Marquart received the Frank Wheat Memorial Award, the firm’s pro bono award, for her efforts on behalf of approximately 2,300 children with autism living in the East Los Angeles area. In that matter, Marquart spearheaded a class action lawsuit that resulted in over 2,000 children diagnosed with autism getting their state-funded treatment programs reinstated on a permanent and ongoing basis, after those services had been wrongfully terminated.
“Katie’s experience as an associate at the firm and her dedication to pro bono work make her the ideal person for this new position,” said Scott Edelman, partner and Chair of the Gibson Dunn Pro Bono Committee. “By managing and coordinating our expansive pro bono efforts, Katie will be instrumental in bringing even more challenging and rewarding work to our attorneys. Marquart joined the firm as an associate in 2006. She graduated from Georgetown University Law Center in 2006 and from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2003.
