Gibson Dunn Promotes 16 Lawyers to Partner

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has elected 16 new partners, effective January 1, 2018.

The new partners are:

Olivia Adendorff (Litigation, Class Actions / Dallas) – Adendorff has handled a wide assortment of antitrust, employment, securities, and general litigation matters, with particular experience in managing complex commercial class actions.  Adendorff graduated cum laude in 2009 from Harvard Law School, where she served as Managing Editor of the Harvard Journal on Legislation.  In 2009, she clerked for Chief Judge Sidney Fitzwater in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Matthew Benjamin (Litigation, White Collar / New York) – Benjamin’s practice focuses on complex litigation, white collar criminal defense and internal investigations, and crisis management.  He has significant experience counseling prominent individuals and companies in sensitive privacy and defamation matters, reputational recovery matters, private investigations, founders’ disputes, and information technology related litigation and investigations.  He graduated in 2006 from New York University School of Law, where he served as an Executive Articles Editor for the Annual Survey of American Law.  Benjamin clerked for Judge George Z. Singal in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine.

Richard H. Cunningham (Antitrust / Denver) – Cunningham’s practice focuses on antitrust and consumer protection matters.  He regularly assists clients navigating Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice investigations.  He also represents clients in litigation matters, including government enforcement actions and lawsuits between or among private parties.  Before joining Gibson Dunn, Cunningham served as Senior Trial Counsel in the FTC’s Bureau of Competition.  Cunningham graduated in 2004 magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center.

Fraser Dawson (Private Equity, M&A / Dubai) – Dawson has experience in acting on a broad range of M&A and other corporate transactions including MBOs, JVs, secondary buy-outs, co-investments, consortium arrangements, restructurings, convertible loan issues and trade sales.  During his career, in both Europe and the Middle East, he has represented leading private equity institutions, well-known multinationals and ‘best-in-class’ regional corporates in highly publicized and market-leading transactions.  He graduated in 2002 from the University of Edinburgh.

Kate Dominguez (Litigation, Intellectual Property / New York) – Dominguez’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation.  She has litigated complex patent cases across a broad spectrum of technologies, including software, electronics, telecommunications, medical devices, and consumer goods.  She has significant experience representing clients at trial and in appeals before the Federal Circuit.  She served as a law clerk to Judge Richard G. Taranto of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  Dominguez graduated in 2008 from Yale Law School.

Chantale Fiebig (Litigation / Washington, D.C.) – Fiebig’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation in federal court.  She has significant experience handling high-stakes cases involving a broad range of substantive legal issues, including disputes arising under the federal securities laws; antitrust statutes; the False Claims Act; and state consumer protection statutes.  Before joining Gibson Dunn, Fiebig served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan, and clerked for Judge Rosemary Barkett on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.  She graduated in 2006 from Stanford Law School, where she was an articles editor on the Stanford Law Review.

Bradley J. Hamburger (Litigation, Class Actions / Los Angeles) – Hamburger has defended clients in class actions across numerous substantive areas of law, including employment, consumer fraud, products liability, and antitrust.  He has also represented clients in a wide range of appellate matters in both state and federal courts, including appeals involving class certification, employment law, RICO, professional liability, complex commercial disputes, and patent law.  Hamburger served as a law clerk to Judge James V. Selna in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.  He graduated cum laude in 2009 from Harvard Law School, where he served as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Journal of Law & Technology.

Danielle Katzir (Real Estate / Los Angeles) – Katzir’s practice covers broad range of real estate matters, including forming and representing joint ventures and negotiating joint venture agreements, acquisition, leasing and development, traditional construction, permanent and leasehold financing, preferred equity and mezzanine financing, and disposition of a wide range of commercial real estate asset classes.  In addition, Katzir spearheads the firm’s EB-5 practice, representing some of the largest EB-5 borrowers in the world in connection with EB-5 transactions secured by hotel, office, residential and retail assets, including large mixed-use developments and master-planned communities, and counseling other stakeholders around the integration of EB-5 into the capital stack.  Katzir earned her law degree in 2004 with Honors from the UCLA School of Law.

Amy Kennedy (Global Finance / London) – English-qualified solicitor Kennedy has broad experience in a wide range of cross-border new-money financing and restructuring transactions, with an emphasis in leveraged acquisition finance, and investment grade and corporate lending.  She has represented top-tier private equity sponsors in leveraged buy-outs, a range of banks and other financial institutions, including non-bank alternative capital providers, and corporates and client portfolio companies.  Kennedy has experience working across a range of capital structures, including senior/second-lien lending, PIK/private-placements, high yield, and both U.S. and Shari’ah compliant financings.  She graduated in 2005 with a Master of Arts (Jurisprudence) from the University of Oxford.

Rahim Moloo (International Arbitration / New York) – Moloo’s international arbitration practice focuses on assisting clients to resolve complex international disputes in the most effective and efficient way possible, including under all of the major international arbitration rules and in various courts around the world.  He also advises clients on the structuring of foreign investments and matters of international law and sits as arbitrator in complex international cases.  He received his Master of Laws in 2007 from New York University School of Law, where he served as an editor of the Journal of International Law and Politics and graduated as the All-University Valedictorian, and his Bachelor of Laws in 2005 from the University of British Columbia.

Laura Kathryn O’Boyle (Litigation, Securities / New York) – O’Boyle focuses her practice on complex commercial disputes, securities litigation and securities enforcement matters.  O’Boyle also has extensive experience counseling media and technology companies on a wide range of issues, including intellectual property disputes (copyright, trademark, and trade secret) and privacy and defamation matters.  O’Boyle graduated with distinction in 2006 from Stanford Law School, where she was a member of the Stanford Journal of International Law and the Stanford Judicial Review.

Jonathan M. Phillips (Litigation, FDA & Health Care / Washington, D.C.) – Phillips focuses his practice on FDA and health care compliance, enforcement, and litigation, as well as other government enforcement matters and related litigation, with particular experience in False Claims Act investigations and litigation.  From 2009 to 2013, he served as a Trial Attorney in the Civil Division, Fraud Section of the U.S. Department of Justice.  He also clerked for Judge J. Curtis Joyner of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.  Phillips received his law degree in 2007 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a Senior Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.

Michael Szczurek (Real Estate / Los Angeles) – Szczurek’s practice consists of representations of a wide variety of real estate investors, lenders, and developers in a broad spectrum of real estate transactions, including: acquisitions and dispositions; financings of all forms and types (including mortgage and mezzanine loans, construction financing, ground lease financing, securitized loans, balance sheet loans, bridge loans, and Shari’ah compliant loans); ground lease structuring; and the negotiation of real estate related joint ventures.  He graduated in 2009 from the USC Gould School of Law, where he served on the Executive Board of the Hale Moot Court Honors Program.

Deirdre Taylor (Antitrust / London) – Taylor’s practice encompasses the full range of EU and UK antitrust issues, with a focus on cartels and market investigations, and merger control.  She has provided antitrust advice to clients across a number of industries, including: telecommunications, aviation, financial services, retail, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing.  Before joining Gibson Dunn, Taylor spent five years at the UK competition authority, most recently as Assistant Director of the Cartels and Criminal Enforcement Group.  Taylor is assistant editor of “Faull & Nikpay: The EC Law of Competition”. She graduated in 1996 from the University College Dublin.

Jonathan Whalen (Corporate, M&A / Dallas) – Whalen’s practice covers a wide range of corporate and securities transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, and public and private capital markets transactions.  He graduated summa cum laude in 2009 from the SMU Dedman School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and served as an Articles Editor on the SMU Law Review.

Greta B. Williams (Litigation, Labor & Employment / Washington, D.C.) – Williams has represented clients in a wide range of employment matters, including those involving non-competition agreements and trade secrets, executive employment disputes, wage-hour and discrimination laws, and whistleblower protection laws.  She has substantial experience in all stages of litigation and has also handled numerous employment-related investigations.  She graduated in 2009 from University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
