October 14, 2014

Human Rights Campaign’s San Francisco Bay Area chapter honored Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP with its 2014 Corporate Equality Award.  The Corporate Equality Award is given to companies that have had a positive impact on the fight for LGBT equality, through their own workplace policies and practices, as well as resources provided to LGBT community organizations.  With a perfect score for the last five years in HRC’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI), Gibson Dunn is recognized as a national leader for creating a corporate culture of promoting and celebrating diversity and inclusion.

“We are proud of our long-standing commitment to supporting our LGBT employees and equality for the LGBT community,” said Ken Doran, Chairman and Managing Partner of Gibson Dunn.  “At Gibson Dunn, we are proud of our inclusive environment and work hard to ensure that we provide an enriching environment in which all of our employees, regardless of their backgrounds, can thrive.”

“HRC sets high benchmarks for our firm and other institutions to meet and continue to push for greater progress and equality in the midst of huge challenges,” said Zakiyyah T. Salim-Williams, Chief Diversity Officer of Gibson Dunn.  “We are proud to be honored in what is undoubtedly a watershed year for LGBT equality, not only within our institution but the wider community as well.”

Gibson Dunn, along with other winners of the Charles M. Holmes Community Service Award and Ally for Equality Award were honored at the 30th Annual Gala Dinner at the Westin St. Francis Hotel on Saturday, October 11, 2014.

“We thank Human Rights Campaign for this recognition,” said Ethan Dettmer, a partner in the firm’s San Francisco office who accepted the award on the firm’s behalf.  “We are committed to pursuing causes that advance equality and diverse communities inside and outside of our own institution, as exemplified by our work on the case against Proposition 8.  At Gibson Dunn, we are not only proud of being a part of the fight for equality, but we are also proud of honoring the individuality and the dignity of all the people in our firm.”
