Based in New York or Washington DC, the Senior System Engineer will support the firm in all areas related to infrastructure in a  fast-paced, dynamic environment using leading-edge technologies based on Microsoft, VMWARE, NetApp, Cisco, and Intel technologies. This role reports to the IS Operations Infrastructure Manager.

Responsibilities include:

The Senior System Engineer will support the firm in all areas related to Microsoft server infrastructure. The position requires complete compliance with the skills listed below.

  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Active Directory, its principles, best practices, and implementation
  • Design, install, and configure Microsoft Windows 2016 servers and newer server versions
  • Monitor system performance and capacity of infrastructure-related technologies
  • Strong working knowledge of XenApp and Citrix infrastructure, implementation, and support
  • Coordinating with others for projects or maintenance involving multiple departments within the organization.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and must have the ability to diagnose quickly, promptly apply fixes, communicate the fix, and document the change in a Change Control system
  • Hands-on experience with DHCP, DNS, and other network services
  • Hands-on with Office 365 / Azure AD and DNS Administration
  • Experience implementing and supporting VMware ESX 7 or higher versions, including hosts and vm guess servers.
  • Hands-on experience in network/ server security, Two Factor Authentication, ADFS, RSA infrastructure, and SSL certificate implementation and management
  • Most have a strong knowledge of PowerShell scripting
  • Hands-on experience in hardware/software repairs and troubleshooting, mainly with HP, Cisco, IBM servers, and APC UPS units.
  • Strong working knowledge in storage solutions with importance in NetApp technologies and CDOT 9.x
  • Hands-on experience with HP MFPs and Canon copiers
  • Strong hands-on experience in Network Printing and integration with third-party solutions such as Equitrac and eCopy
  • Knowledge of network faxing solutions such as RightFax
  • Thorough understanding of email solutions with an emphasis on Microsoft Exchange
  • Exposed to MicrosoftExchange2016/MobileIronMDM
  • Maintain existing technologies, servers, load balancers, APC UPS, and others.
  • Keep abreast of technology trends in all aspects of Microsoft servers, VMware, and other IT Operations technologies.
  • Work closely with IS and others to understand their business needs and goals and translate them into technical requirements when necessary.
  • Coordinate with vendors to purchase new hardware or software products.
  • Test new or revised hardware and software solutions to ensure optimal configuration and performance.
  • Develop and document processes and procedures to reduce the number of reoccurring system issues.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of deployed production solutions in a Solution Design Document format.
  • Experience with Zscaler Internet Security.
  • Work with the Support Center and other IS departments to identify and develop solutions to issues through configuration or procedural changes. Provide accurate root-cause analysis, identify solutions, and provide accurate impact analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of LANs, VLANs, troubleshooting, and complete understanding of TCP/IP, POP, SMTP, SFTP, SSH, HTTP, SSL, and WMI
  • Experience with anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-spam applications/implementation/support
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills to provide clear and concise technical issue/resolution documentation to audiences of different technical levels.
  • FireEye/TrellixSecurityTechnologies
  • Experience with Cisco Secure Email Appliances (Agari / IronPort)
  • Has experience working in ISO-27001 environments

Qualifications

  • Strong PowerShell scripting – the ability to script complex conditional scenarios that result in actions provided the right conditions are met.
  • The ability to reduce overwhelming amounts of information into a few salient issues to focus on what is essential
  • Must be highly driven with the ability to prioritize critical tasks rapidly
  • Must be a self-starter with the initiative to follow through on programs/projects, work with all levels of users, and coordinate efforts inside and outside the IS group.
  • Participate in a week-long after-hours support escalation coverage rotation
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Although limited, the candidate must have the ability to travel
  • Flexibility relative to scheduling is required.

Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline or comparable job experience aligned to System architecture engineering is highly preferred.
  • Certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) is a positive
  • Certification as a Microsoft Certified Solution Expert (MCSE) Core Infrastructure or Productivity is a positive
  • Five years of experience in a Systems Engineering role
  • Minimally three years experience with XenApp and Citrix infrastructure, implementation, and support, Citrix environment administration, inclusive of NetScaler, SSL certificates, Web Interface, StoreFront, Active Directory Group Policy Objects, and Internet security

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $145-155k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
