Partner and Co-Chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice Group Katherine V.A. Smith spoke to the Daily Journal [PDF] after being named one of the publication’s Top Labor & Employment Lawyers. She discussed why she became interested in labor and employment law: “I have always been interested in employment law because the cases are incredibly diverse and complex. At its core, every employment case is about people, and I enjoy the challenge of understanding the people involved in any case, including their motivations and perceptions.”
Katherine also mentioned that a win in her practice doesn’t necessarily mean a verdict. “Getting there means understanding what the client actually sees as its pain points, and what the client’s internal stakeholders will regard as the most productive resolution,” she said. “That’s the measure that counts.”
