Steven A. Domanowski is a partner in the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and is a member of the Business Restructuring and Reorganization Practice Group. Mr. Domanowski’s practice sits at the intersection of restructuring and corporate finance. He represents a diverse array of parties in liability management transactions, distressed debt transactions, in-court and out-of-court restructurings, debt exchanges, and other insolvency matters.
He has particular experience in the formation and representation of ad hoc lender groups at the top of the capital structure. On the creditor side, he recently represented the term lenders in Akorn, Skillsoft, 4L/Clover, Mallinckrodt, Monitronics, Crossmark, Sunguard, Savers, Catalina Marketing, David’s Bridal, rue21, and J. Crew.
Mr. Domanowski has also recently represented the secured lenders and debtor-in-possession lenders to retailer rue21, food wholesaler and distributor Associated Wholesalers, and vegetable processor Allens Inc.
He also has recently represented American Apparel, Shoreline Energy, Swift Energy and Boscov’s Department Stores in their chapter 11 cases.
Mr. Domanowski also has advised strategic investors, private equity funds, asset management firms, hedge funds, and other similar investment vehicles in a variety of circumstances, including distressed debt transactions, liability management transactions and distressed asset sales.
Mr. Domanowski is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Turnaround Management Association, and the Association for Corporate Growth. In addition, he has published numerous articles and participated in numerous seminars and presentations on restructuring and distressed debt related matters.
Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Mr. Domanowski was at Jones Day in the firm’s Chicago office, where he had served as a partner since 2013. He previously practiced at Bell, Boyd & Lloyd LLP.
Mr. Domanowski received his law degree from DePaul University College of Law in 2002, cum laude, where he was also a member of the law review and received the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence. He graduated magna cum laude from University at Buffalo, State University of New York in 1999.
Mr. Domanowski is admitted to practice in Illinois and is currently practicing in New York under the supervision of the Principals of the Firm.
