Minsoo Kim

Min soo Kim is an associate in Gibson Dunn's Orange County office. He is a member of the firm's Appellate and Constitutional Law practice group.

Min soo represents clients in high-stakes, complex litigation matters, specializing in appeals and critical motions across several subject-matter areas. He has litigated in the U.S. Supreme Court, several state supreme courts, and state and federal courts throughout the country.

Recent Representative Matters

• Obtained a new trial for UPS that vacated a $237.6 million jury verdict in a single-plaintiff retaliation and wrongful termination action (E.D. Wash.).
• Secured supervisory writ from the North Dakota Supreme Court—ordering the trial court to issue the first foreign antisuit injunction in North Dakota history—to block Greenpeace from using the European Union’s novel anti-SLAPP directive to nullify the unanimous jury verdict the trial team secured for Energy Transfer LP and Dakota Access LLC.
• Defeated the State of Louisiana at the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal on behalf of a Fortune 5 client. Revived claim that the Louisiana Attorney General’s retention of private counsel under a contingency fee arrangement violates the Louisiana Constitution.

Min soo also maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on religious liberty. He has represented a variety of amici in briefing before the U.S. Supreme Court. He was also part of the Gibson Dunn team that was awarded the 2025 Animal Legal Defense Fund Advancement in Animal Law Pro Bono Achievement Award.

Before joining the firm, Min soo clerked for the Honorable James C. Ho of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Honorable Martha M. Pacold of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Min soo received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2021. While in law school, he served as a publishing editor on the California Law Review. Min soo earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2017.

Min soo is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the Fifth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh Circuits.
