Mergers and Acquisitions Private Equity

BIOGRAPHY

Jamal Lama is a corporate associate in the Denver office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.  He is a member of Gibson Dunn’s Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity Practice Groups.

Mr. Lama represents both strategic companies and private equity clients (including their portfolio companies) across all industries in connection with all aspects of their domestic and cross-border, public and private M&A activities.  Mr. Lama has extensive experience working with private equity sponsors on a variety of transactions including take-privates, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and GP-led continuation fund transactions.

  • Serent Capital, in its acquisition of SSB’s Sports and Entertainment Business

  • American Express Company, in multiple transactions, including the entry by its Global Business Travel joint venture into a definitive business combination agreement with Apollo Strategic Growth Capital
  • Duravant, a Warburg Pincus portfolio company, in its acquisition of Woodside Electronics Corporation (WECO) and in its strategic partnership with Carlyle and Warburg Pincus
  • Hygiena, a Warburg Pincus portfolio company, and Warburg Pincus in Hygiena’s acquisition of DuPont’s global food safety diagnostic business and the sale of Hygiena to EW Group
  • JUUL, in a $12.8 billion investment by Altria
  • América Móvil, in its $333 million acquisition of Telefónica’s operations in Guatemala and terminated $315 million acquisition of Telefónica’s operations in El Salvador

Mr. Lama received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 2016 from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, where he was awarded the Dean’s Leadership Award and served as an Articles Editor on the Washington University Law Review.

Mr. Lama is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the State of Colorado.
