Hannah Lewis is an English-qualified Associate in the London office of Gibson Dunn. She is a member of the firm’s International Arbitration, Litigation and Judgment and Arbitral Award Enforcement Groups. She is currently on secondment.
Ms. Lewis has broad experience of international arbitration and commercial litigation, with a particular focus on commercial arbitration and enforcement of arbitral awards. Recent experience includes:
- Acting for a major international engineering company in a multi-billion-dollar ICC arbitration arising out of a Middle Eastern airport project.
- Acting for an international mining company seeking to enforce an ICSID arbitral award rendered against an eastern European State in the English courts.
- Acting for a consortium of defendants in English High Court proceedings relating to the misuse of confidential information in setting up an international sports league.
- Acting for a major oil company in proceedings brought by a Middle Eastern state relating to the operatorship and maintenance of an offshore oil and gas project under the UNCITRAL rules.
- Acting in a shareholder dispute seated in London relating to an oil and gas joint venture in the Middle East under the LCIA rules.
- Acting for a manufacturing client in LMAA arbitration proceedings concerning an international shipping dispute.
Ms. Lewis also has an active pro bono practice with a particular interest in matters relating to prisoners’ rights and criminal justice reform. Recent experience includes:
- Working with APPEAL to investigate the conviction of a teenage girl, with significant history of trauma and abuse, for joint enterprise murder.
- Acting for an NGO seeking to bring investor-State arbitration claims for expropriation.
- Successfully acting for clients to obtain Non-Molestation Orders from the Family Courts under the initiative DARA (the Domestic Abuse Response Alliance).
Ms. Lewis trained at Gibson Dunn and holds a First Class History degree from the University of Bristol.
