Caitlin Smith

Associate Attorney

Caitlin Smith is an associate in the London office of Gibson Dunn and is a member of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions, and Private Equity Practice Groups.

Caitlin has extensive experience in private equity and sponsor-side M&A, acting for financial sponsors, institutional co-investors and portfolio companies on UK, European, US and cross-border transactions.

Caitlin’s experience includes leveraged buyouts, bolt-on acquisitions, sponsor-led exits and portfolio company advisory work, with particular sector exposure in healthcare, technology, media, business services, financial services, shipping / maritime services and medtech.

Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Caitlin worked in the London office of another major global law firm.

  • MidEuropa Partners on its sale of Regina Maria and Medigroup.
  • Funds advised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s Global Transportation Infrastructure. Group on its acquisition of a majority stake in OSM Thome.
  • Broadcast Music Inc. (a portfolio company of New Mountain Capital) on its acquisition of Soundmouse.
  • Stonepeak on its joint venture with KKR with a recommended GBP1.6bn cash offer for Assura plc.
  • Bridgepoint on its sale of Care UK.
  • Apax Partners on its acquisition of WGSN Limited.
  • Ardian and its portfolio company (Audiotonix) on its acquisition of Slate Digital.
  • Charterhouse on its divestment of Tarsus.
  • Crescent Capital Partners on its sale of Nucleus Network to Blackstone.
  • Asahi on its acquisition of Carlton & United Breweries and related post-acquisition divestments.
