London partner Penny Madden is one of 107 new Queen’s Counsel appointed in the 2015-16 Queen’s Counsel Competition and is one of only three solicitors appointed. The award of Queen’s Counsel is for excellence in advocacy in the higher courts. The appointment as Queen’s Counsel is awarded to "advocates who have rights of audience in the higher courts of England and Wales and have demonstrated the [required] competencies to a standard of excellence." The new Queen’s Counsel will formally become silks when they make their declaration before the Lord Chancellor at the ceremony on February 22, 2016.
