Text messages have been playing an increasingly important role in high profile controversies. It is now more important than ever that companies understand the challenges (and costs) involved in extracting text messages from mobile devices. It is also important that companies proactively manage text messaging data to reduce the risks of exploding litigation costs and spoliation sanctions that arise from the increasingly common use of text messaging for business purposes.
