Labor and Employment Class Actions Litigation

BIOGRAPHY

Alex Downie is an Associate in the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.  He is a member of the firm’s Labor and Employment and Litigation Practice Groups.

Mr. Downie represents employers in disputes regarding discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful discharge, and wage and hour laws.  Beyond litigation, Mr. Downie also regularly advises employers on preventing discrimination and harassment in the workplace, navigating workplace safety requirements, and complying with leave laws.

Mr. Downie earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia Law School in 2019, where he served as the Executive Editor of the Virginia Law & Business Review.  During law school, Mr. Downie volunteered for the school’s employment law clinic, where he assisted with a variety of employment-related matters ranging from employment discrimination to wage and hour disputes.  Mr. Downie graduated summa cum laude in 2016 from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Mr. Downie is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the Southern District of New York.
