BIOGRAPHY

Philip Spear is an associate in the Dallas office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He currently practices in the Litigation, Intellectual Property and Life Sciences Practice Groups. Mr. Spear also has experience in patent prosecution, including drafting claims; performing freedom to operate analyses; and responding to office actions.

Mr. Spear earned his law degree with Honors in 2017 from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was on the board of editors for the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal. Mr. Spear graduated with Highest Honors and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014, with a B.A. in Plan II Honors and a B.S. in Biochemistry. During his time at the University of Texas, Mr. Spear worked extensively in a research lab devoted to polyketide synthases and X-ray crystallography, which led to his honors thesis on the implementation of biocatalytics in the efficient production and design of new pharmaceuticals. He also studied English literature at Oxford University during the summer of 2011.

Mr. Spear is admitted to practice law in the State of Texas.
