Best Lawyers in Brazil 2022 has recognized three Gibson Dunn attorneys as leading lawyers in their respective practice areas: New York partner Tomer Pinkusiewicz – Project Finance and Development Practice; São Paulo partner Lisa Alfaro – Corporate and M&A Law; and São Paulo of counsel Fernando Almeida – Banking and Finance Law, Capital Markets Law, and Corporate and M&A Law. Tomer Pinkusiewicz’s practice focuses on the procurement, development, financing and acquisition/disposition of infrastructure-related assets and companies, with substantial experience in Latin America-related transactions, project bonds and infrastructure financings.  He has substantial experience in representing infrastructure funds, asset-mangers, industrial participants and private-equity platforms in respect of investments and divestments in the infrastructure sector, with extensive experience and focus on complicated joint-venture arrangements and debt financing arrangements in respect of such assets.

Lisa Alfaro has advised U.S. and multi-national companies on their most significant and critical matters, including corporate transactions, corporate compliance and investigations.  She represents developers, investment banks, private funds, Fortune 100 companies, state owned entities and investors in the U.S. and Brazil.  Throughout her career, she has advised clients in milestone cross-border transactions, coordinating and supervising multi-jurisdictional cross disciplinary teams in complex transactions.

Fernando Almeida has extensive experience advising major international and Brazilian investment banks, corporations and private equity investors in a wide range of cross-border transactions involving Brazil.  He has represented various issuers and underwriters in cross-border public and private offerings of equity and debt securities, as well as in private placements and bank financings.  He also has significant experience advising foreign investors in the acquisition of, and joint venture formation with, Brazilian public and private companies, and serves as counsel to Brazilian companies in cross-border business combinations.
