Gibson Dunn was recognized in the 2022 edition of Chambers High Net Worth, a guide to the leading lawyers and law firms for international private wealth. The firm was recognized with a top tier ranking in China: Private Wealth Disputes. Hong Kong partners Brian Gilchrist and Elaine Chen were recognized in the China: Private Wealth Disputes category, alongside Hong Kong of counsel Alex Wong. Los Angeles partner Michael Desmond was also recognized in the USA: Private Client: Tax category. The guide was published on July 14, 2022.

Michael Desmond is Co-Chair of the Firm’s Global Tax Controversy and Litigation Group.  His practice covers a broad range of federal tax matters with a focus on tax controversy and litigation.  For more than 25 years, he has represented clients before the examination divisions of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the IRS Independent Office of Appeals, in the United States Tax Court and in federal district courts, the Court of Federal Claims and various federal courts of appeal.
