Best Lawyers in Belgium 2023 Recognizes Four Gibson Dunn Partners

Best Lawyers in Belgium 2023 has recognized four Gibson Dunn partners in their respective practice areas: Stéphane Frank – Competition/Antitrust Law; Alejandro Guerrero – Competition/Antitrust Law; Ali Nikpay – Competition/Antitrust Law and Litigation; and Christian Riis-Madsen – Competition/Antitrust Law and European Union Law. Christian Riis-Madsen was also named 2023 Lawyer of the Year for European Union Law. The lists were published on June 23, 2022.

Stéphane Frank has significant experience in general EU antitrust, abuse of dominance, vertical agreements, cartel enforcement and other behavioral matters. He has advised a variety of clients active in the technology, financial, chemicals, heavy industry, and aviation sectors. He also has broad experience in merger control in Europe and in the coordination of global multi-jurisdictional merger filings.

Alejandro Guerrero specializes in EU competition, data protection and technology law and regulation. He has broad experience in general EU antitrust (and its interaction with Intellectual Property), cartel enforcement, vertical agreements, abuse of dominance and antitrust private litigation. He has advised a variety of clients active in the luxury, financial, technology, energy, consumer goods and telecommunications sectors, including working as secondee for some clients.

Ali Nikpay is Co-Chair of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Group. He has more than 20 years of EU and UK merger control, antitrust and litigation experience in both the private and public sectors. Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, he served at both the European Commission’s DG for Competition (DG COMP) and the UK competition authority. He is co-editor of “Faull & Nikpay: The EU Law of Competition.”

Christian Riis-Madsen is Co-Chair of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Group. His practice focuses on EU competition, including merger control, abuse of dominance, investigations, cartels, as well as EU regulatory law. He has significant experience in high-tech industries where he is representing some of the largest companies in the world, on matters involving fast-evolving markets, intellectual property rights, and complex trade patterns. He is also one of very few antitrust specialists in Brussels of Scandinavian background, giving his broad practice an invaluable perspective on the culture and laws of the region.
