Dave Wharwood is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.  He currently practices in the firm's International Trade Regulation and Compliance Group.

Mr. Wharwood received his law degree in 2004 from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an editor of the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law.  He also holds a Masters in Public Policy from the College of William & Mary.  He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.  Mr. Wharwood previously served as an International Trade Analyst with the International Trade Commission, in its Market Access and Compliance Unit.

Mr. Wharwood's experience includes:

  • Defending several major steel firms in an anti-dumping Sunset Review case, ITC proceedings and CIT appeal.
  • Advising clients on U.S. sanctions and export control laws, secured export and travel licenses for U.S. exporters.
  • Advising finance transaction parties on CFIUS review and U.S. sanctions issues.
  • Advising financial services, petroleum and paper industry clients on potential FCPA liability.
  • Leading major document review and analysis for a multi-billion dollar class action acccounting lawsuit.

Mr. Wharwood is admitted to practice in New York, the District of Columbia and the Court of International Trade.
