J. Taylor McConkie is an attorney in Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher's Denver office, where he practices in the firm's Litigation Department and focuses on complex civil litigation in federal and state court. Mr. McConkie has substantial experience in a number of areas, including securities litigation, appellate litigation, class action defense, SEC enforcement proceedings, white collar defense and investigations, and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA") investigations and compliance initiatives.
Mr. McConkie's practice has provided him diverse and broad-based exposure to numerous industries. He has, for example, gained substantial experience in representing clients in the mutual fund industry, where he has helped negotiate favorable regulatory settlements on behalf of mutual fund clients and has represented a mutual fund advisor in multi-district civil litigation. He has also defended numerous accounting firms, obtaining dismissals of numerous accountant-liability suits. In addition, Mr. McConkie has represented clients in the investment banking, energy, resort and entertainment, automobile, mortgage, and medical sciences industries.
Mr. McConkie graduated cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2002 and obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University in 1999. In addition to his private practice experience, Mr. McConkie has held numerous public-sector jobs, including his work as a law clerk for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and the Office of Legal Advisor at the U.S. Department of State. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Timothy M. Tymkovich of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Mr. McConkie is admitted to practice in all Colorado state courts, the U.S. District Court of the District of Colorado, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
