Ulrich Baumgartner is a German qualified attorney in the Munich office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. He is a member of the firm's Antitrust, Intellectual Property and Emerging Technologies Practice Groups.
Mr. Baumgartner focuses on European and German antitrust law and has in-depth experience in dealing with both the European Commission and national competition authorities. He advises on all domestic and international antitrust issues and has represented clients in a number of high-profile mergers and antitrust cases. His antitrust practice encompasses counseling, transactional and litigation matters across numerous industries as well as the drafting of cooperation and license agreements.
In addition, Mr. Baumgartner has a special expertise with regard to information technology and internet law with a particular emphasis on the implications of data protection law. He advises a number of internet companies, service providers and high-tech companies on all legal questions regarding their web presence and German operations. In 2006, he practised in-house for a renowned internet retailer for six months. His recent practice has also a strong focus on all questions of intellectual property law including substantial transactional work and licensing. Mr. Baumgartner is experienced in dealing with courts and regulatory bodies and has developed considerable expertise in drafting and negotiating distribution agreements.
He has written articles and outlines for conferences and has given a number of presentations on current antitrust issues. Before joining Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Mr. Baumgartner practiced at a renowned German law firm in Munich. He speaks German, English and Italian.
