Based in any of our US locations, the Knowledge Management Attorney will support the Firm’s KM Group specifically focusing efforts on the M&A and Private Equity Practice Groups in developing, implementing and maintaining Practice Group KM resources, to increase efficiencies and optimize client service delivery within the Firm.

This position is part of the Knowledge Management and Innovation Group and collaborates across offices, practice groups, and infrastructure departments, including Research Library Services, Marketing and Business Development, Information Technology and other various administrative and operational teams, to successfully execute knowledge management initiatives. The KM Attorney maintains professionalism and strict confidentiality in all client and Firm matters.

The role reports to the Counsel & Director, Knowledge Management – Transactional and the Director, KM & Innovation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • This role will have a significant writing component including the creation, development and maintenance of model documents, forms, drafting guidance, practice group resource material, and similar specifications for the M&A and Private Equity Practice Groups, in alignment with Practice Group needs.
  • Ensure Practice Group content, precedents, and resource materials are up-to-date and readily accessible on the Firm’s intranet and other content sharing platforms, organize and curate practice sites to promote and make accessible the highest value content, and facilitate knowledge reuse.
  • Serve as a source of legal, market and practical expertise; regularly review internal and publicly available transaction agreements and market studies to identify market trends; keep current on relevant case law and statutes; respond timely to queries; inform the Practice Groups of substantive legal developments.
  • Identify and collect key data points of the Practice Groups’ legal work for statistical analysis and post-deal assessments and benchmarking.
  • Develop and maintain substantive content relevant to the Practice Groups’ marketing and business development efforts, including client presentations, cases studies, and market surveys; align KM efforts with strategic business goals; develop and maintain client extranets and other client service initiatives.
  • Assist practitioners in locating practice-related internal and external knowledge resources and technologies.
  • Capture feedback for continuous improvement of KM products and processes.
  • Develop workflows leveraging Practice Group resources and technologies to promote efficiency in common matter types.
  • Provide ongoing individual and group lawyer and staff training on KM tools, resources and best practices.
  • Evaluate new and innovative KM and research tools and resources based on Practice Group needs; participate in technology pilots and assessments.
  • Produce and curate knowledge management reports as needed to facilitate insights and inquiries into Practice Group and deal study metrics.

Qualifications

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with Department personnel, Firm management, other attorneys and staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with courtesy, diplomacy and discretion, efficiently follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and project management skills including record keeping, data collection and system information. Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish concise, detailed information in report format, written correspondence, e- mail or verbally.
  • Highly motivated, strategic focus: ability to understand and support Firm goals, services, culture and strategy in order to present self and the Firm in a positive, professional manner. Understand and stays up to date on current legal market trends, news, and innovations.
  • Exhibit high degree of initiative in managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, high-stressed, detail-oriented work environment. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow.
  • Dependable team player with high energy, creativity and vision who works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment.

Experience

  • Juris Doctor required.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in M&A/PE, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Computer proficient with strong understanding in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint and other various legal search engines and online research tools.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $200-260k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
