Mark Zimmer is a partner in the Munich office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
As a certified lawyer for labor law, Mark advises companies in all employment-related matters. He represents his clients in particular in connection with reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, as well as the hiring and separation of executives, both out of court and in court.
A special focus of his practice is compliance, especially the detection of and reaction to fraud, corruption and similar violations. Mark has developed particular expertise in conducting complex internal investigations for multi-national companies. Especially noteworthy is his key function during the Siemens Compliance Monitorship.
Handelsblatt / The Best Lawyers™ 2023/2024 have recognized him among Germany’s best lawyers for Labor and Employment Law, Corporate Governance and Compliance, Litigation and Criminal Defense. Mark regularly publishes on labor law and compliance related matters. In addition to numerous lectures, he has distinguished himself through two teaching assignments at the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich and the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences.
Mark studied law at the Universities of Munich, Passau and Würzburg, from where he also obtained his doctor’s degree in 1994. He has been admitted as a German lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) since 1996 and as a certified lawyer for labor law since 1999.
Besides his native German, he is fluent in English and also speaks French and some Arabic.
