Based in LA, you will be a Finance & Accounting Analyst for its Billing Department. The Central Billing function strives to provide outstanding service to the Firm’s partners, clients, and others within the Firm; therefore, the candidate must be very flexible and highly committed to quality, customer service, teamwork, and supporting Firm and department goals in a fast-paced environment.

The role will report to the Director of Finance and Sr. Billing Manager and will be an integral part of the billing team.

Responsibilities include:

Alternative Fee Agreements:

  • Monitor complex alternative fee agreements (AFAs) and work with Billing Team to ensure invoices are submitted according to AFA and invoicing schedule.
  • Apply on-account funds received under AFAs towards WIP amounts as appropriate.
  • Conduct reconciliations of AFAs and prepare true-up reports as requested by clients or management.

 

Volume Discounts:

  • Prepare reports on net billed fees and unbilled fees and monitor volume discount thresholds for various clients.
  • Communicate with the Billing Team as thresholds are being reached to ensure that correct discount amounts are implemented.
  • Coordinate with Pricing Department to complete reconciliations as requested by clients.

 

Budget Analysis:

  • Utilize Firm resources to prepare budget reports and conduct analysis.
  • Provide budget reports to billing partners on a regular basis or as needed.

 

Partner Inventories:

  • Research work-in-progress (WIP) and on-account inventories for partners as requested by Billing Managers.
  • Assist management with obtaining information on aged WIP balances and taking appropriate actions against aged balances.
  • Coordinate with Billing Team to apply on-account balances towards WIP and outstanding balances.

Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, and have the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Possess an analytical mindset and should have the ability to understand, execute, and communicate complex fee agreements.
  • Must have strong technology skills, including MS Office Suite (with an emphasis on Excel), and an ability to leverage technology in work processes.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, based on department needs is required.

Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. Minimum of three years prior experience in legal billing, pricing, or finance is required.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $65-70k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
