Based in Denver or Houston, you will be a Legal Secretary. This position supports litigation partners and associates and requires effective communication with high profile clients and firm personnel. You will be able to efficiently work independently and also as a member of a team. The position requires coordination with various firm departments and offices while utilizing available resources in an appropriate, effective and professional manner.

The role reports to the Denver or Houston Director of Administration.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting letters, spreadsheets, presentations and shells/templates, including complex formatting and preparation of documents for filing with appellate courts, district courts and various state courts through attorney service and e-filing portals. This includes, but is not limited to, tables of authorities, exhibits, declarations and [proposed] orders.
  • Prepare corporate closing binders and signature packets, calculate litigation calendaring deadlines, coordinate and schedule depositions and office meetings and arrange and coordinate travel through office travel agency.
  • Familiarity with signature packets and real estate transaction closings is helpful but not required.
  • Researching and obtaining information, facilitating the completion of forms and processes, and other administrative tasks, including processing invoices, reimbursements and reviewing time entries.

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of legal office procedures, demonstrate initiative and have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to use good judgment in handling tasks in a timely and professional manner with limited supervision.
  • Successful candidate must have strong litigation skills, the ability to work effectively with various courts, agencies, firm departments and offices, engage resources in an appropriate manner and complete other job duties as assigned.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, solid computer proficiencies and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and problem solving while remaining calm in deadline-driven situations is required.
  • Excellent grammar, punctuation, proofreading and spelling skills is integral.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team is essential.
  • Candidate will also exhibit a work ethic of punctuality and reliability.

Experience

  • Candidate must have a minimum of five years of experience supporting corporate and litigation attorneys at a law firm.
  • Required computer experience includes a high proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; experience in Adobe, Forms Workflow, Workshare Compare and Best Authority preferred.
  • The successful candidate will be given extensive training on the Firm’s software applications.

Compensation & Benefits:

The annual compensation range for this position is $65-85k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
