Based in NY, you will be a Client Development Manager. The primary role of the Client Development Manager is to drive the growth of the Firm and support lawyers with their marketing initiatives as it relates to the M&A practice group.

The role reports to the Client Development Director.

Responsibilities include:

  • Building and managing all client development by writing and implementing a business plan to include target lists, high impact client teams, publishing and speaking opportunities.
  • Annually conducting a W/L analysis and owning the practice budget.
  • Leading the delivery of multiple business pitches, suggesting the go to market approach and positioning the Firm to win while ensuring the content is up to date and accurate.
  • Taking a critical eye every effort, ensuring we present the right capabilities and team.
  • Directing efforts to cascade new information about capabilities and client wins through marketing materials including practice group descriptions and attorney biographies.
  • Representing the global department at practice and regional meetings by providing updates on the area led, as well as cascading information on global department initiatives and implementing related partner training.
  • Supporting department initiatives and owning projects in line with strengths and passions.
  • Leading client development for groups of practices, industries and/or regions.
  • Leading a select set of client teams, driving the group to create an exceptional experience for the client.
  • Setting the agenda and cadence for decision making.
  • Presenting internal analysis and making suggestions for the approach.
  • Taking responsibility for summarizing outcomes and driving action items to completion.
  • Overseeing preparation of and, as necessary, preparing yourself client development materials for business pitching.
  • Collaborating with the proposals team RFP responses for your practices, industries or regions.
  • Drafting and maintaining practice-specific marketing materials, including collaborating with the content and intelligence teams to facilitate any updates to the experience database.
  • Structuring and harnessing the practice, industry and/or office information flow on client wins. Providing input on client-ready matter summaries, selecting relevant tags and updating the database and materials. Taking responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of the set.
  • Bringing a creative and critical eye to the effectiveness of all digital channels, collaborating with colleagues on the communications, content, technology and creative teams.
  • Overseeing client continuing legal education events, ensuring a strategic approach is taken to invitations, production and follow ups.
  • Working with individuals, supporting business development planning by overseeing target list management, identifying opportunities for thought leadership (speaking, writing), suggesting client events, supporting social media efforts and other strategic initiatives. Taking responsibility for summarizing outcomes and driving action items to completion.
  • Staying current on market intelligence, as a tool to support individual pitch efforts and practice area or region strategic projects.
  • Creating a point of view on the competitive landscape and acting as a resource to practice, industry and office leaders by presenting updates on this as appropriate.
  • Working with the CRM team to ensure high quality client contact data is maintained.
  • Leading efforts to keep partners up to date on when key contacts advance or make changes.
  • Taking responsibility for the growth, development and advancement of the early tenure marketing team members.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional professional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with executives comfortably.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Outstanding problem solving and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management and time management skills.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • 8+ years of experience in professional services, legal preferred.
  • 2+ years of team management experience, with direct reporting lines.
  • Experience in strategic business development planning and pitching.
  • International exposure preferred.
  • Exceptional in Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word PowerPoint).

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $160-170k. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
