Derik Rao is an associate in the Palo Alto office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and a member of the Firm’s Securities Litigation, Securities Enforcement, and White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice Groups. Mr. Rao’s practice focuses on representation of corporate clients in internal investigations, government investigations, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) defense, and enforcement actions relating to business crimes and civil frauds.

Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Mr. Rao was a litigation associate at an international law firm based in Chicago.
Mr. Rao earned his law degree in 2016 from Washington University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. During law school he served as a judicial intern for Hon. David D. Noce of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Rao was a senior associate with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Rao received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics with high honors.
Mr. Rao is admitted to practice law in the States of California, New York and Illinois, and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
